On October 25, 2008, a handful of YMCARunners showed off their athletic multi-tasking abilities at the Great Floridian Triathlon (Ironman) and the Florida Challenge Triathlon (ooohh...the "Intimidator"). The "Challenge" covered the "Half Ironman" distance comprising a 1.2 mile splash around Lake Minneola, a 58 mile bike tour of the greater Clermont area and a half marathon (13.1 miles). A Half Ironman is no small fete, but this race is particularly wicked in that the bike portion incorporates the gnarley hills of Buckhill Road in Ferndale and the "widow maker" side of Sugarloaf Mountain. Intimidating? Not for our runners.
